The mission of the Caswell County Health Department is to protect the health and welfare of the Caswell County citizens and to meet the county's health needs through direct services, assessment and evaluation, and community partnerships. We hold the following Core Values to fulfill this mission:

     Health Promotion: We emphasize the importance of healthy lifestyles and behaviors that lead to an enhanced quality of life and lower health risk.
Prevention: We act promptly to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to lower risk factors that lead to chronic disease
Sanitation:We work to ensure food safety, clean drinking water, clean air and a safe environment.
Partnerships:We cooperate with community, state and national partners to meet the needs of the citizens.
Quality:We strive to meet the highest standards of quality as we provide services to our citizens.



     The Personal Health facility operates clinics Monday through Friday. Adult, child, and women's health services are offered, as well as nutritional services. 
The Home Health Agency provides quality home care to patients who are homebound, under the care of a physician, and in need of skilled services in Caswell and in parts of Rockingham, Alamance, Orange, and Guilford Counties. It is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care.
Environmental Health helps protect the public from environmental hazards by monitoring water quality and waste disposal, as well as maintaining sanitary standards by inspecting restaurants and other public facilities.



The Health Department is governed by the Board of Health, which is comprised of residents of Caswell County who are appointed by the County Commissioners. The Board of Health has the authority to adopt rules necessary to protect and ptomote public health. Board of Health meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month and are open to the public.  For an agenda of the upcoming Board of Health Meeting call (336) 694-4129.

The law establishes that 11 members be appointed to the Board of Health. The current members are:

The Health Director is the administrative head of the Caswell County Health Department. The current Health Director  is Frederick Moore, M.D. who moved to Caswell County in 1986 and practiced medicine in the area for ten years. During this time he served on the Board of Health and in 1999 he became the Health Director.
